In a previous Blog Post, Exciting News, I shared the experiences of my writing journey. In that blog post I wrote, “I now can say that in God’s mighty power He has done far more than I could have ever imagined or guessed. I did the next thing. God did more!!!”

Again, I did the next thing after signing with my agent Wendy. Again, God did more!white-bloom-with-hand

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  2 Corinthians 9:8

A few days after signing I received a message that a publishing house I had sent my book proposal was interested in ‘moving forward’ after presenting the proposal to their focus group. I had no clue what that even meant, so I entrusted fellow writers and my agent. I contacted the publisher to say yes, I am interested in moving forward.

There is a lot of waiting in this process of moving forward. Weeks went by with no word. I grew anxious and discouraged. Could I trust the people handling the process? Would the Pub Board see potential in the book? Who could I rely on to support and encouragement? I had to do some soul searching of who I feared and trusted.

“Look to the Lord and His strength; seek his face always.” 1Chronicles 16:11

We have to purposefully choose to change our thoughts from human trust and support to seeking Jesus face in every circumstance. Choose to go to Him first in prayer. Listen for His quiet whispers of wisdom and guidance. And, do the next thing. His desire to do more in us and through us guides us into a deeper relationship with Him. Pulling to the place He desires us to be.

As I allow the Lord to do immeasurably more in me, God’s glory is put on display.  Revealing His glory began with Love, His love.  Not making it about me but about Him. If it were about me this would have never happened. Circumstances of the past should have never sent me down this road of writing.

Only God could plan a purpose and path for me to write and seek publication.

Only God’s strength could keep me moving forward through the daunting process.

Only God’s love could give me confidence to pursue this journey.

Only God could.

This past week I agreed to contract terms with a publishing house to publish my non-fiction book. I am excited to do the next thing. The next thing is to wait again for the final contract to sign. Then I do the next thing. The next thing God is asking, trusting and relying on His strength and abilities not mine. I celebrate, then I write.

Are there times in your life that you can see where only God could? If not, could you begin to look for them, asking, trusting and relying on His strength and abilities?

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20 MSG
