Have The Goal In Mind
Many of us live with regrets of bad behavior, shame because of past and present choices, feeling defeated and discouraged. A family friend asked me during my rebellious years, “How could Jesus love a girl like you?” I believed those words. God couldn’t love someone like me. I have too many sins, too many bad choices, too much baggage. How could he love me?
We live in the tension of what we have been and what we want to be. In Philippians, Paul urges us to forget what is behind and strain for what is ahead. We don’t have to take our past along with us. We don’t have it all together. Our lives do not have to be perfect. All we need to do is say yes to Jesus. Realize God knows who you are and what you’ve done. He knows everything but still loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.
Say yes to Jesus and start in the direction of the goal, to know Christ more, to be like Christ, and to be all he has in mind for our lives. Serve the Lord in all we think, do, and are to glorify Him. And then we will live in peace and confidence. Don’t take your eyes off the goal.
God loves you more than you can imagine. He wants to be in a relationship with you. He desires for you to grow and be loved by Him. We don’t have it all together but we are well on our way reaching out to Christ as He is reaching out to us. Let’s keep our eyes on the goal. Where God is calling us.
What’s holding you back? Leave it at the cross and move forward, straining toward the goal.
