Sitting in the lobby of the church a friend came up and began to tell me how she was praying for a woman in our church. Her description of her prayers were more informative than they should have been, and I took the bait. I asked questions for more information, gave a few observations of my own, and shared how the woman should and shouldn’t behave.
We weren’t sitting there praying for the woman. We had slipped into gossip so easily. We hadn’t spoken a word of blessing but torn the woman down.
A moment I’m not proud of but learned so much about gossip and how to become a blessing builder, not a gabby gossipmonger.
