“One day you will be at the place you always wanted to be.” This quote broke my heart when I read it on the wall of a friend. I livedshopping bags in that place once before. I lived where maybe tomorrow will be that day, that car will make me happy, a bigger house will make the perfect home for our family, that job is the one that will fulfill us. It never came. The day came. The car was bought. The bigger house was obtained. The job was offered. What didn’t come was the perfection, fulfillment or happiness with any of those things.

I stood in the middle of a Major League Baseball clubhouse after the team my husband was working for won the World Series my heart was full of excitement. Looking around I saw one of the players standing with his arms crossed watching the celebration around him. The peace on his face was bright. I congratulated him on the win and his part in the success. He thanked me and stated that he was sad. Sad? How could he be sad?

His response, “I am sad for all these guys who have reached the peak of their lives. That is what they will always try to live up to. They will always reach to this feeling to size up happiness and success.” I knew what he would say next. He and his wife and my hubby and I had all committed our lives to Christ within the year before the World Series win. The focus of what mattered had changed. Peace came from Jesus. Success was calculated in glorifying Him in what we did, said and were.

“I am thankful that I am content with wherever God takes me after this win.” He was happy for the win but he knew that tomorrow he wouldn’t be searching for this experience to fulfill him again. He was content with wherever or whatever God brought his way.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1Timothy 6: 6-7

pink flower tooEvery day my not be the day we want it to be, but there is something good in every day we are given. No matter what we gain in this lifetime if we do not have Holy contentment in the simple things we will never have fulfillment or happiness. Let this day be the day we find ourself in the place we always wanted to be. In the presence of the Lord and His blessings.

“There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you,” Deuteronomy 12:7.

Do you have the holy contentment that God has gifted you? There are days that I fall to the desire for more, perfection, fulfillment or happiness. Those desires or fulfillment of them never bring the peace and joy that can be brought with holy contentment. Today is the day to be at the place you always wanted to be.

Right where God has blessed you.

Seek His contentment where you are!
