Have you ever felt you were not ready to step out in faith? You don’t feel able, prepared, or equipped. Recently a friend recommended I read an article that talked about how women won’t apply for a job unless they feel they are 100% qualified. Men only need to feel 60% qualified to apply for a position.
When I thought about it, how many times do I decide not to do something because I don’t feel qualified? Too many.
How many times do I feel like a failure because I didn’t do something 100% correct?
How many times do I feel I am not qualified because I don’t have a degree.
I am not in the right economic standing; financially, I am not ready.
I can’t teach my children how to…because I am not trained.
I am too old to____.
I am too young to____.
I am not ready to____.
I am too overwhelmed, stressed, anxious.
I am not the right person to accomplish that.
We all struggle with not feeling ready, prepared, or worthy.
What if we could get rid of this type of thinking and begin to live a life of purpose and meaning according to what God wants and needs us to do, right where we are, right now. Not questioning if we are ready, prepared, or equipped but tapping into God’s power that He has placed in us.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin,” Zechariah 4:10.
God rejoices to see the work begin! That is a promise we need to embrace.
Did you see the beginning of that verse?
Do not despise these small beginnings.
If we want to make a significant impact in the world for Christ, God wants us to see that we need to find just as much passion in the small.
Jesus wants us to start with the small.
One small prayer.
One small step.
One small decision.
One small gift.
One small act.
One small conversation.
One small life.
One small victory.
God may be calling you to amazing things, big things, but it starts with the small. Take a small step with great belief, even if you are only 60% ready. He is asking you to start something.
Take that first step of committing to change one habit, make one move, start something new, pray with that one friend, or volunteer at the local soup kitchen.
Let’s start small and believe big, together.
What is one thing you are going to start today, even if you don’t feel ready? Please comment below and let me know. I will pray for you as you take that one step in faith.
