The mom of three little boys and a wife to a husband that was always away, I felt spiritually stuck. I didn’t see where God wanted me to be or what He wanted me to do.

I began to wonder when God would move in my life. When will He tell me my purpose? What am I meant to do?

We get lost when we focus on our purpose and the meaning of our lives rather than God’s purpose and meaning. It is not only what God can do for us but also what we can do for God.

Now.

In this place.

At this time.

One choice at a time.

We have to be careful that these moments of pausing don’t turn us into potato chip Christians. That’s when we lie back on the couch, eat one chip at a time, and wait for the Lord. We hope he sends down some thunderbolt of knowledge with a big-screen view of our future, purpose, and meaning.

“… I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us”, Philippians 3:13–14

We don’t need a big screen. We only need one thing to focus on, the one thing God has pointed out to us. We need movement toward that one thing.

A stagnant life for a Christian begins when we live without spiritual movement. Forward motion, the first step of belief and trust, living the life God has given us, keeps our sights on glorifying God where we are — walking into potential rather than staying stuck in the quagmire.

Living an intentional life leads to remarkable living. Intentional living is experiencing life on purpose. A deliberate, by-design, determined life lived for the glory of God. We need to be willing to make an effort.

God is always calling us to press onHe wants to challenge us more. It’s not His desire that we stay stagnant, stuck, or struggling. He wants us to step out, persist, and live by faith.

Don’t resist but persist now. In this place. At this time. One choice at a time.

Ask the Lord, “What do you want me to do for you today?”

This question started the forward motion I needed to see where God was leading me as a young mom. He was leading me to be the best mom he could help me be. I took a step, moving forward on that one thing.

Purposefully focusing on the one thing leads us from a stagnant existence to the meaningful life intended for us. It focuses on glorifying God in a relationship with Jesus and deepens our faith, hope, and love. It places us face-to-face with Jesus every day.

I’m praying that the Holy Spirit is speaking to you and revealing what He wants you to do, to understand, and to embrace.

Do you know where God is leading you? Are you confused? Do you need help? What questions do you have that would help you move forward? Please share!

I am praying for you, my friends.
